Edward S. Stokes III Obituary

Edward 54, was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be remembered for having a caring heart, and beautiful smile. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Edward S. Stokes III Born January 13 1971 to Edward S Stokes II and Marilyn Stokes. He was a proud historian of The Collinwood area in which he was raised and over the years intermittently resided in. He attended Collinwood High School, graduating in the Class of 89. After graduation he continued his education at a Cleveland technical/vocational school and graduating from there as a certified electrical technician. He held many jobs as a dedicated worker and was most proud of becoming the lead at work and a Union Member. He eventually became the Union Stewart in which he "Held The Line" in support of his coworkers in a historic strike against the Red Cross. In recent years he had been getting more involved and interested in helping with his high-school class reunion events. Ed also known as Snoop, Snook, and in prior years Q-tip, loved rap music, movies, driving, history, Cleveland history, remembering everyone's birthday, the ideology of The honorable Elijah Mohammad along with Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan, Mohamed Ali, The Browns, The Lakers, everything Kobe Bryant, The Cavs, sports, Prince, Las Vegas, Bruce Willis, Sanaa Latham, Jill Scott, talking and debating about current events, visiting and hanging with family and friends near and far. You could find him quoting many rappers and black leaders and even movies. Often times he'd love to antagonize people via social media. It was his platform it was his stage where he didn't leave nothing on the table. He was a man that spoke his mind, shared his thoughts, gave advice, listened attentively, and encouraged others in many ways. Some of his greatest memories were with his family and friends. He had many remarkable laughs, secrets, jokes, and life moments with life long friends from the neighborhood, school, and the list goes on. Many neighbors, co-workers, associates, classmates, beloved lady friends, and current interests will miss his impact both large or small. At the time of his death he left to cherish, his mother Marilyn and his sister Evette, his beloved Cleveland/Northeast Ohio Family and his host of friends.

I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard His call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found the peace at the close of day, If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss; Oh yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you all the sunshine of tomorrow, My life's been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seems all too brief; Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He has set me free.
